Grey’s Anatomy Season 9: Sara Ramirez Is “Under a Strict Gag Order” Not to Discuss Arizona’s Fate

Ever since we read that Grey's Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes refused to say anything about Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) fate in the Season 8 finale (Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight"), fans have been extremely worried about what will happen to Calzona in Season 9. And now, we’re finding out just how tight-lipped the cast is being about our favorite lady couple.

When TVLine visited the set recently, they reported that Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) was “under a strict gag order not to discuss the fate of her on-screen wife.” Instead, Sara talked about the impact Callie and Arizona’s relationship and marriage has had on the audience.

“We hope that [Calzona fans] will continue on this journey with us, because it's definitely going to be an intense one,” Sara says.

Shonda showed early signs of this “strict gag order” when she first began discussing Season 9 over the summer. In July, she told an interviewer, "I don't know that I want to talk about Arizona,” and commented that she doesn’t “make decisions lightly and I certainly don't make these decisions lightly.”

Jessica has done everything she can to keep Arizona spoilers to a minimum, but even she told Wetpaint Entertainment that her character is in “bad, bad, bad, bad” shape in Season 9. Then again, Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) tweeted a spoiler photo showing Arizona looking very much alive on the set of Season 9, Episode 4: "I Saw Her Standing There".

Either way, a strict gag order sounds very ominous, and we may have to prepare for the worst.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 will premiere on Thursday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
