So far, we know that the episode will focus only on the (formerly) dark and twisty sisters. As Ellen points out, there is usually at least one Meredith-centric episode per season of Grey’s.
“This season, they decided to do Meredith and Cristina to break it up a little bit and just focus on two people,” Ellen tells TVLine. “They're individual storylines, but in our own storylines, it's sort of ALL us."
So what’s in store for Meredith?
"[Mer] has a super-critical patient,” Ellen says. “The underlying subtext of my medical case, as usual, is dealing with issues of like my sister's death. Emotionally, things that I haven't dealt with, I sort of play out through taking care of this patient."
In a way, it’s sad to think that Meredith will still be avoiding the emotional aftermath of Lexie’s death so far into the season. But, given the recent spoiler that Meredith will become a quasi-Nazi with her new interns in the first few episodes, it sounds like she’ll be settling into the anger stage of grief for quite a while, with a bit of denial thrown in for good measure.
As for Cristina’s half of the episode, all we know is that her storyline will run parallel to Meredith’s — just remember that Cristina will be working her new job at the Mayo Clinic, so the BFFs might not interact very much.
