"There's way more bigger things in life to worry about than a bad score on this show," Bristol told On the Red Carpet in their post Performance Show video interview.
Mark said he understood the judges' points about how you're only supposed to break hold in the Quickstep at the beginning and the end of the routine, not in the middle as they did. The judges called the pair out for it, giving them a score of 18 out of 30, which was three points below the next lowest score on the list, a 21 for Kirstie Alley andMaksim Chmerkovskiy.
Mark said he tried to change the timing of the hold but it wasn't a natural fit with the music. "It's a country song. I've never done Quickstep to a country song." Plus, "Redneck Woman" is Bristol's favorite song and he didn't want her to be restricted for the whole routine. "I don't care," he said. "I just wanted her to have a good time. The judges they have rules that they want to follow and if they were mad about the hold, I get it. It's cool."
At least they had fun — and her mom, Sarah Palin, had fun too. OTRC said Mama Bear was singing and dancing as the song played. "I think she's a redneck woman too," Bristol said. "We both are. It was a fun night. Who cares what the judges' scores are?"
Well, Bristol and Mark may care if they get eliminated tonight. Then again, it doesn't sound like they really do care that much, as long as they enjoyed themselves for a while.
