Ramona Singer on Aviva Drescher: “I Don’t Think She’s a Happy Person” – Exclusive
On last week’s episode of Real Housewives of New York (Season 5, Episode 17: “Don’t Make Room For Daddy”), the feud between Ramona Singer and Aviva Drescherturned rough. But it wasn’t either of the two women who got a little physical– it was Aviva’s father George, who seemed to grab Ramona at a charity event when she refused to engage him in a conversation about his daughter. Shaken, Ramona asked for George to be removed. And on last night’s finale (Season 5, Episode 18: “All’s Well That Doesn’t End Well”), Aviva got into Ramona’s face with a vengeance about it, referring to her as a “caged animal” who had “an 80 year old man thrown out of a party.” Ramona responded to the incident – and Aviva’s harsh words for her – exclusively to Wetpaint Entertainment. Wetpaint Entertainment: Clearly, a lot is being made out of the incident between you and Aviva’s dad. Tell us about it from your perspective. Ramona Singer: You have to understand, I grew up in a situation where my father was physically or verbally abusive to my mother every day of my life. When George grabbed me, it not only physically hurt, it was upsetting. It wasn’t right. You grabbed Carole in a similar way last night. Why? I was frustrated. The cameras weren’t able to capture it properly, but what George did really hurt. I was in pain. Should I have grabbed Carole like that? No. But I wanted her to understand how upset I was. I didn’t feel like anyone understood that. What about the accusation that you threw an 80 year-old man out of the party? Do you feel that’s unfair? Yes. I first asked him nicely to leave. George refused and then verbally and physically attacked me. I tried to reason with him, but he wouldn’t listen to me. He hurt me. I don’t think I was out of line. Are you and Aviva speaking right now? I have nothing to say to Aviva. I think she has displaced anger that she takes out on me. I don’t think she’s a happy person. I’m a happy person. And I don’t like that she always picks on my friendship with Sonja. Sonja and I are very close. We’re great. Aviva doesn’t like that. I’m actually fine with everyone from the show except Aviva. Final thoughts on what happened between you and Aviva and her father? I find is strange that Aviva accepts her father's inappropriate behavior and calls it entertaining and funny. Aviva has two sets of rules: one for me and one for everyone else.
The Real Housewives of New York Season 5 Reunion airs on Monday, October 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
