Why Did Farrah, Maci, Amber, and Catelynn Audition For 16 and Pregnant? The MTV Stars Tell All!
The OG Teen Moms tend to keep their hot lips sealed when it comes to working with MTV, but they let loose during the show's Farewell Special on Tuesday, October 2. The ladies chatted openly about the audition process for 16 and Pregnant, and we've rounded up their insights!
Catelynn Lowell explains that she and Tyler heard about 16 and Pregnant though Dawn, their pregnancy counselor — but girlfriend was hesitant about filming. "Listen, Catelynn was like totally against it," Tyler reveals. "She was like, 'They're never gonna pick us,' and I was like, 'Dude, that would be kinda cool, you know, let's do this!'"
Of course, Cate and Tyler were picked by MTV, and girlfriend quickly got on board. "We were planning adoption, and so we were really excited to see if we could get picked to show people that different option," she says.
Meanwhile, Maci Bookout found about about the show from her parents. "I found out about 16 and Pregnant on Craigslist," Maci's mom explains. "They were casting for pregnant teenagers for a documentary, and I thought it would be a good opportunity for Maci to share her story."
Oh, and Ryan had no idea that Maci was applying for the show, because she "just did the casting tape and sent it in." Yikes!
So what about Amber Portwood and Farrah Abraham? Amber's mom "heard about MTV wanting to do a documentary for young mothers," and let Ambs borrow her camera, while Farrah says that she was "doing modeling and acting" at the time of her audition. "I just felt helpless, to be honest, and I wanted to try to make something positive out of the situation," she explains.
All four of these gals have been such a great influence on teens around the country, and we're so happy MTV gave them an opportunity to share their stories!
