The True Blood couple has been dating since the show filmed its pilot episode way back in 2007, but their romance actually began before that — when HBO forced them together during auditions!
In Red’s chat with Anna Paquin in their November 2012 issue, she reveals that during pilot auditions, neither of them lived in Los Angeles, so the network checked them into the same hotel. The pair became quick friends, hanging out and having dinner every night together. And when they returned home, they realized they missed each other. The rest, as they say, is history!
Aww! And over the course of their five-year relationship, they have only gotten closer; in fact, Anna adorably explains, “We’re best friends.”
“If you’re going to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want it to be the person you want to hang out with all the time,” she says. “We have a lot in common but, when it comes down to it, if that person isn’t really your buddy as well, for me, I don’t think that would work.”
Hanging out all the time includes work, but for the couple, that’s the icing on the cake.
“We spend all our time together. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, I could never work with my significant other,’ but I love getting to go to work with the person I want to spend all my time with,” Anna spills, but adds that they aren’t always actually working together.
“Sometimes we go to work and we’re not actually in any scenes together,” she says with a laugh. “But it’s really nice. It’s like working in the same office building.”
Their day jobs are far from boring office work, and on nights and weekends, she says they live “an outdoorsy, life, cruising around on our bikes and skateboards, going to the beach and hitting the farmers’ market.”
