Is the Esposito/Ryan Hatchet Really Buried on Castle?
It only took two episodes of Castle for Ryan and Esposito to seemingly bury the hatchet of their Season 4 finale blowup, where Ryan breaks partner code and runs to Gates, ultimately saving Beckett’s life — but losing Esposito. In this week’s episode, Espo and Ryan were still on the fritz. They could barely say more than five words without one of them trying to outdo the other, something that has rarely happened in the past. It was petty — snatching Chinese food cartons, walking away when the other had news about the case. Beckett had to force them to work together just to retrieve the victim’s cell phone. And we thought high school was over! Esposito was holding a grudge, and Ryan was just trying his best to get through it, for the sake of the case. It wasn't until they both saw the video footage of the fight with Reggie Blake’s bodyguards that Esposito truly understood that Ryan will always have Espo’s back. And off to a non-sports bar they go! But is it really over? Can what happened between them actually be solved over a punch and a couple of brewskies? Or will the tension continue to rear its ugly head the next time someone’s loyalty and trust are brought into question?
