Glee Season 4 Music: Lea Michele Wants to Sing Which Katy Perry and Demi Lovato Songs?

Will Lea Michele (Rachel) and Darren Criss (Blaine) soon be getting to hand-pick more of Glee’s song choices? We can’t wait!

Ryan Murphy tells Inquirer Entertainment that the show will soon be covering a few songs that Darren Criss and Lea Michele have requested in “late-night emails and texts” that they’ve sent to him. Sounds like these two are total besties with their boss. How cute!

We know that Darren was the one who suggested “Don’t Speak,” which we’ll hear in tonight’s Season 4, Episode 4: “The Break-Up,” but which songs has Lea suggested? “I want to do [Katy Perry’s] ‘Wide Awake’ and [Demi Lovato’s] ‘Skyscraper,’” Lea says. Okay, so Glee has already done more than a few Katy songs already, but what’s wrong with one more when it’s as amazing as “Wide Awake”?

We think those two songs would be perfect for Lea’s voice, not to mention that both are appropriate for this new chapter in Rachel’s life. Plus, Lea’s choice of these two songs perhaps gives us a bit of insight into what type of songs she’ll want to have on her upcoming solo album. (And yes, both “Wide Awake” and “Skyscraper” kinda make us want to dance in our underwear, as Lea said her album would.)

Ryan hints that Finn (Cory Monteith) will indeed be leading the glee club in coming episodes, although Schue (Matthew Morrison) might not love the direction that Finn takes the club. “There’s somebody who runs the joint a little bit,” Ryan says. “Around Episodes 8 and 9, [Schue] comes back and it’s very much like Star Wars where he’s fighting to get the soul of the club back.” Wait — so Finn is Darth Vader?

And Ryan also confirms that he is in the process of squeezing a current novelty hit onto the show, but in a unique way. “We’re writing an episode where we’re doing the ‘Gangnam Style,’ the big hit,” he says. “I’m trying to figure out how I am going to mash up with that and make it our own.”

Our suggestion for “Gangnam Style”? Let Blaine do it! We’d love to see Darren Criss doing that invisible horse dance. (We can totally picture him singing, “Eh, sexy layday!”) Plus, it’s also a perfect match because Korean pop star Psy might be the only person who loves bow ties as much as Blaine.
