“You are the first boy who made me feel loved,” she told him, as they reunited once again in the McKinley auditorium during GleeSeason 4, Episode 4: “The Break-Up.” “And sexy. And visible. You are my first love. And I want, more than anything, for you to be my last.”
That’s when her declaration took a sudden turn. “But I can’t do this anymore. At least not now. We’re done.” And with that, Glee’s Finn and Rachel officially ended their relationship. For real this time. No confusing statement from him about “setting her free” that left her uncertain about what exactly might be in store.
The New Rachel is taking control of her life, and she’s not willing to be with a guy who’s going to avoid her for four months just because he’s embarrassed about his lack of success, then show up at her apartment, gripe about her new guyfriend-turned-makeout buddy,Brody (Dean Geyer), and then run off to Ohio in the middle of the night at the first sign of conflict.
The New Rachel wants a real man in her life, and as much as she loves Finn, she’s just not willing to be with him right now. What did you think of Finchel’s big breakup? Did you see it coming a mile away — or are you still in shock with how everything went down? And do you agree with Rachel’s choice to take control and end things with Finn, or are you still holding out hope that these two just might reconcile later on down the line?
