We’ve written in defense of The Situation before, and we tend to have a lot of sympathy for anyone who publicly admits that they were suffering from addiction and sought help. And with 8 months clean, it’s clear that Mike took getting sober seriously, rather than just spending a hot minute at a fancy rehab to appease the press.
The Situation also went out of his way to formally apologize to each Jersey Shore castmate individually, calling himself out on his bad behavior in the past. Snooki and JWOWW are the only ones who aren’t giving up the ghost right away (and Snooki might never try to make a friendship work again).
The only downside to all this positivity is that The Situation might be trying a little too hard. As Snooki put it, she gets that he wants to be her friend, but it’s a little too much too soon.
Then again, we’ve never seen Mike behave like such a gentleman before — politely asking those two girls to come back to the house another time (when one of them doesn’t have her period) just so Pauly D didn’t have a messy night? Maybe the slickest move we’ve ever seen on the show. And the friendliest Situation.
Tell us what you think of the brand new Situation in the reaction buttons below: Do you like sober Mike, or do you miss the old one?
