Top 5 WTF Moments From Castle Season 5, Episode 2: “Cloudy With a Chance of Murder”

Castle always manages to leave us spellbound with how well-thought-out each scene is. But this week, there were some moments that made us put our fist on our chins and go “huh?” in confusion. Our favorite characters were, well, out of character, and a few things just didn’t add up.

Here are our top WTF moments from Episode 2: “Cloudy With a Chance of Murder.”

5. Esposito Forgives Ryan, Oh So Quickly!

In this case, maybe it’s not the what, but the how that’s unusual. While trying to bring suspect Reggie Blake to the station, Ryan and Esposito run into a little snafu named two large bodyguards. Later, when the footage is replayed on the WHNY evening news, Espo sees that Ryan took a punch that was meant for him. And with that, they opt to head out for a drink and the bromance honor has finally been restored.

Really, is that all it took? Does that mean they won’t be bringing out the fisticuffs on each other? That would have been fun to watch.

4. Lanie Doesn’t Know It’s Castle

Do Lanie and Beckett talk outside of work anymore? We guess not. Lanie has known about every other relationship Beckett has had. And must we remind you of the heart-to-heart between these two in Season 4, Episode 20: “The Limey” where Lanie confirmed what Kate thought was a secret — her lust for Castle.

But in this ep, our resident medical examiner can’t pin Castle as Beckett’s lover. Lanie, it’s your job not to miss anything, especially something this epic!

3. The Castle and Kristina Kiss

We know this moment had Caskett fans boiling. And rightly so! But there are a few contradictions during this part that are a tad fishy.

First, Castle tells Beckett that he tried to run and hide from Kristina prior to the kiss actually happening. But when? Castle throws the glass bowl, and Beckett hurries to Castle’s place. In the very next frame, Kristina puts the glass in the trash, then lays a big one on Castle. Was he hiding in the bathroom while McHottie was cleaning glass off of his floor? Probably not. So why did he say so?

Also, did anyone else notice that Castle doesn’t seem to be struggling that hard to get from underneath Kristina? It takes Beckett barging into the room that make Kristina come up for air.

Castle, we’re watching you like a hawk. We still can’t believe it went that far in the first place, and they’ve only been a couple for 2.5 seconds.

2. Beckett Doesn’t Try to Hit Kristina or Castle

For the record, violence is not the answer, but someone would have gotten slapped had that happened to us. Just sayin’.

1. Castle Forgets Beckett’s Coffee

Each morning for four straight years, Castle has carried two things for Beckett: a deep desire to be with her and a cup coffee. Technically, he brought her one at her apartment, but we see he still made a pitstop by the coffee shop for himself, and not Beckett — a dead giveaway that something is up. For a detail-obsessed writer (the man solved a crime by noticing how a bow had been tied!), that’s a huge one to overlook, especially if they are trying to not raise any red flags about their relationship.
