Jersey Shore

Why Did The Situation Enter Rehab?

The Situation has been open about his struggles with an addiction to prescription pills, but he never really opened up about what sent him to rehab.

Oh the premiere of Jersey Shore Season 6 (Season 6, Episode 1: “Once More Unto the Beach”), Mike finally revealed what made him decide to sober up.

“I was exhausted,” Mike told the cast when asked by JWOWW why he chose to sober up. “I was trying to go to sleep and I was like, man, if I can’t do this...”

The Situation has confirmed that he was in rehab for an addiction to prescription pills. According to various reports, The Sitch was taking Xanax, Ambien, and Dilaudid, an extremely powerful painkiller that is more powerful than morphine. According to one report he was taking 20-30 pills a day and using a mixture of pills to stay up late and then go to sleep. The Situation has also confirmed that he was taking Oxycodone.

During the Season 6 premiere, Mike frequently referred to “getting off the hard stuff” and his roommates appeared to acknowledge that they knew of his past drug use.

The Sitch entered rehab in March of this year and was in inpatient treatment for 34 days.

Jersey Shore airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
