In the original version of the song, Taylor Swift celebrates the strength of her relationship by singing the song to a boy who has stuck with her even when she “ran out crying.” There are pictures hung whimsically outside, silhouettes and kissing, and a happy resolution.
In the Glee version, the song didn’t end quite so pleasantly. After Santana finished singing the song to a tearful Brittany, she broke up with her. When the song ended, Brittany wasn’t the only one crying — we were feeling a little moist in the eyes too.
So, who sang the song better — Did Naya’s Santana cast it in a new light that made you love it even more than the original? Was Taylor’s version more true to the lyrics? You be the judge.
