Inside Sonja Morgan’s Internships: A Day in the Life Working for a Real Housewife

Real Housewives of New York star Sonja Morgan was a willing participant in a recent all-access Wall Street Journal experiment: a day in the life of her mysterious interns!

WSJ writer Marshall Heyman actually acted as Sonja's intern for an afternoon, for a segment of what he calls “gonzo journalism.” (Sadly, he wasn't allowed to actually interview Sonja's interns about their experiences. Oh, the missed opportunities!)

The reporter observed that Sonja’s four interns, who come in two days a week, perform scattered duties — ranging from a stylist intern to a business intern who works with Sonja's lawyer. Interestingly enough, all of the interns have also been trained in toilet plunging, taking off their shoes at the door, and eating lunch together with her.

"You have to be a team player ... I was one of four children. I was always used to managing teams. I've always had interns. After you work here, you could work anywhere,” said Sonja.
According to Marshall, Sonja took advantage of his “big picture” savvy by jotting down pointers he gave on her website’s formatting and her toaster oven company’s community presence.

"Let me write down the last couple of things you said, because I don't want to forget them," she said. "Normally I tell my interns not to use Post-its because they're expensive.”

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
