Once Upon a Time

What Happens When Someone Tries to Leave Storybrooke on Once Upon a Time?

On Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 2: “We Are Both,” we finally found out what happens when someone from Storybrooke tries to leave the town’s parameter. And poor Sneezy took the stumble across first.

This post contains spoilers from Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 2: “We Are Both” (airing October 7). If you haven’t seen the episode yet, you’ve been warned! For more on Wetpaint Entertainment's philosophy on spoilers, click here.

As the seven dwarves gather at the edge of Storybrooke, they draw straws to see who’s going to take the first step. Poor Sneezy is the unlucky guy, and with a helpful (or not) nudge from Leroy/Grumpy (Lee Arenberg), he leaves Storybrooke for the first time.

As Grumpy and the dwarves come charging back into Storybrooke, with Grumpy shouting, “Terrible news!” they fill everyone in on the awful truth. Grumpy says that when you try to leave Storybrooke, “our cursed selves become our only selves.”

What this means is that Sneezy can’t remember his Fairytale Land identity, and only identifies as the Storybrooke pharmacist. Everyone collectively freaks out. Do you think this happens because the curse isn’t completely broken, or is it part of Mr. Gold’s (Robert Carlyle) purple cloud of magic?

Catch the next new episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, October 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
