Survivor: Philippines, 8-9 p.m. on CBS: Another Season 25 castaway is voted out of the game.

SERIES PREMIERE! Arrow, 8-9 p.m. on The CW: In the pilot episode of this new superhero series, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific five years after he was thought to have died in a shipwreck. Back in Starling City, Oliver slowly reconnects with those closest to him and secretly creates the persona of Arrow a vigilante to right the wrongs of his family and fight the ills of society. Supernatural, 9-10 p.m. on The CW: Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) take Kevin’s (guest star Osric Chau) strong-willed mother (guest star Lauren Tom) on their quest to find the tablet in “What’s Up, Tiger Mommy?”

Modern Family, 9-9:30 and 9:30-10 p.m. on ABC: Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) drop Haley (Sarah Hyland) off at college in “Schooled,” and Phil goes in for a vasectomy in “Snip.”

SERIES PREMIERE! Nashville, 10-11 p.m. on ABC: In the pilot of this new series about two country music stars an aging icon (Connie Britton’s Rayna Jaymes) and a young, massively popular artist (Hayden Panettiere’s Juliette Barnes) — Rayna learns that her record label wants her to tour with Juliette as the breakout star’s opening act. SERIES PREMIERE! Chicago Fire, 10-11 p.m. on NBC: In this new series from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, the firefighters, rescue squad, and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51 put their lives on the line. Jesse Spencer’s Lt. Matthew Casey butts heads with Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide over a fallen team member in the premiere.

The Vampire Diaries, 8-9 p.m. on The CW: In the Season 4 premiere, “Growing Pains,” Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) attempt to change Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) fate when she awakens to find that she died with vampire blood in her system. 30 Rock, 8-8:30 p.m. on NBC: Political satire at TGS drives a wedge between Liz (Tina Fey) and Jack (Alec Baldwin).
