Real Housewives of New York

Carole Radziwill on Countess LuAnn: Her “Politeness” Is an Issue

The princess and the countess sure threw down over fashion on the Real Housewives of New York Season 5 Reunion Part 1.

Carole Radziwill and LuAnn de Lesseps had a tiff during Season 5 over a Ranjana/Naeem Khan dress. Essentially, LuAnn asked to wear one of Carole's designer friend’s pieces for free on Season 5, Episode 9: "Dirty Ol' Dad" and Carole was not impressed.

The two launched into some low blows during the reunion, with LuAnn contending that the designer should be absolutely honored to see her wear his clothes in Life & Style Magazine and Carole responding, “Look, it’s not Vogue, darling.”

In her latest Bravo blog, Carole stuck to her guns about standing up to LuAnn on this matter. In fact, she calls into question LuAnn’s manners in asking for the favor!

“I don’t ask designers for dresses. It’s an imposition on a designer, so I don’t ask, because I’m not Meryl Streep,” she wrote. “I had only met LuAnn twice, I barely knew her when she asked if I could arrange for her to get earrings from Ranjana’s showroom. She got the earrings, enjoyed my friend’s hospitality, then asked to borrow dresses.”

Carole continued, explaining that she and Naeem are not just casual acquaintances but close friends. She would “never want him to be put in an awkward position with a favor request from a stranger because of me.”

LuAnn, of course, did just that and Carole views it as a breach of proper etiquette.

“Just as I would no more walk into Jacques office and ask him to send me ten cases of wine,” she wrote, “This — to me — is about politeness.”

She and LuAnn, she concluded, just have a different “code of conduct” about such things … just like princesses and countesses, we presume.

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
