During the reunion, Aviva said “I just want to say to both of you that I do not have a monopoly on pain and loss, and my problems are no worse than anybody else’s.” She added, “I threw that on to you, and I apologize, and if you don’t find it in your hearts to accept my apology, I actually understand that.”
To that, Sonja snapped, “I have accepted your apology before, and I saw where that got me. More than once, you have apologized, and then you’ve gone that same night and said venomous things about me to the press, in your blog, to Twitter.”
Aviva then rephrased and reemphasized, saying the following.
“I am sitting here now, before the world, in front of you two in person — which is the first time I’m with you — telling you that I am profusely sorry, and when I say I’m sorry, not only do I say it with words… You can bet your bottom dollar that it will never happen again.”
Following the show, Ramona and Sonja both spoke up about why it is that they didn’t believe her.
For Sonja, she wrote in her latestBravo blog, “Aviva's apologies are like the boy who cried wolf,” and she’s not quite convinced Aviva will stick to her word about playing nice. “We have to see over time. I hope she can keep her promise this time and not continue to insult me and make up untrue stories,” said Sonja.
Meanwhile, Ramona’s declared in her latestBravo blog, “It seems to me that she only decided to apologize after the fans turned on her.” Ramona reiterated Sonja’s claim that Aviva was trash-talking the two to the media and on Twitter before Aviva herself was made to look bad on the second St. Barts episode (Real Housewives of New York Season 5, Episode 15: “Vacation, All I Never Wanted”) and ultimatelyconcede she was a “jerk.” For Ramona, then, she seems to think the Reunion Part 1 apology is more self-serving than sincere. “It was only when there was a major backlash against her on Twitter, the press, and Bravo blog comments that she decided to apologize on the reunion to me,” she wrote.
