Grey’s Anatomy’s Eric Dane Cast in New Michael Bay Post-Apocalyptic Pilot

Now that Grey's Anatomy’s Mark (Eric Dane) is no more (*tear*), Eric Dane is moving on ... to TNT.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the actor has been cast in Michael Bay’s latest project, a post-apocalyptic thriller titled Last Ship. Eric plays Tom Chandler, a naval captain who’s part of a crew that has just survived a nuclear war … and might be the only survivors left on the planet.

Eric’s character is described as “a career Navy man and a loving father and husband who’s never home as much as he’d like to be. Chandler is authoritative, decisive, fair, courageous and a born leader, respected and loved by men and women in his command.”

A loving father who is authoritative and loved by men and women? We can see that. The pilot is written by Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane and directed by Jonathan Mostow. Michaela McManus, Travis Van Winkle, Christina Elmore, Sam Spruell and Charles Parnell also star.

As much as we will miss him on Grey’s, we are so happy that Eric’s beautiful face will return to our television sets soon.

Catch the next new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, October 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
