The Voice’s Cody Belew: I Thought “I Needed Fireworks and Pasties On” To Win My Battle Round
Watching last night’s bam-bam-filled battle round on The Voice between Cody Belew and one woman hype machine, Domo, it may have been easy to overlook the small town Arkansas farmer.
Domo was a blur of tight leather and even tighter neon in rehearsals, leaving poor Cody to sit back and wait him turn as she waxed poetic about her endless talents.
Today Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the enthusiastic country boy to talk about his victorious battle round.
"I thought I needed fireworks and pasties on [to win]," Cody joked.
And given Cee Lo Green's well documented — need we remind you of model/singer Erin Martin from Season 2? — "affinity for attractive women" as Cody put it, that may not have been the worst idea.
But in the end, Domo's overconfidence may have been her undoing, as it only pushed Cody harder.
"I knew she was going to get out there and fight for it and I welcomed the challenge," Cody told us. "It actually really pushed me to be my best self."
And that "best self" seemed to have worked, because Cody's performance earned him a ticket to the knockout rounds, proving that he only needed his bedazzle-free bam bam to shine.
What did you think of Cody’s performance? Did he deserve to beat Domo? Weigh in below!
