Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Should Glee’s Dianna Agron Play Kate Kavanagh?

Dianna Agron (Quinn) has done a fabulous job playing a blunt and sexy blonde on Glee, so might she be the perfect choice for a not-too-different character in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey?

The Glee star has really been branching into the film world of late, having just wrapped up a key role in Malavita, also starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer. This has led some sources to speculate whether Dianna’s film career momentum might lead her to the coveted role of Kate Kavanagh, an aspiring journalist who is also Anastasia’s best friend and roomie.

The Insider lists several possible contenders for the role, with Dianna among them. According to the site, Dianna “has a Kate quality with her light eyes and hair, and with her character on Glee being featured less and less, she's got time to film a major movie.”

But given that this movie is destined to be a surefire hit, Dianna is certain to have some fierce competition for the role. Also on The Insider’s list are such talented beauties as Gossip Girl alum Katie Cassidy, Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson, and Revenge’s Christa B. Allen.

However, it’s a good sign that Dianna also shows up on Celebuzz’s list of picks for the role. The site says that Dianna “definitely has the range needed” to play Kate. Among their other choices are Blake Lively, Brooklyn Decker, and Vampire DiariesCandice Accola. So many great actresses competing for one role!

Of course, the only downside with Dianna getting a major role like this is that her time on Glee would probably become more limited than it already is, given that this is likely to be a film trilogy. Quinn has yet to appear this season, so if Dianna suddenly has even less time for Glee, it’s safe to say that we’ll be feeling fit to be tied. (So to speak.)
