Today The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Oscar-winner Russell Crowe and his wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer, have separated. They have two children together.
The Sydney paper said the split was amicable, with one cause perhaps being the amount of time Russell has been working. He seems to be on a comeback tour right now, with upcoming roles in Les Miserables, Man of Steel, Noah, Broken City, The Man with the Iron Fists and Winter's Tale.
In June, Russell and their sons surprised Danielle on the set of Dancing With the Stars Australia, where she was competing with pro Damian Whitewood. It was a nice family reunion, but perhaps not meant to last.
Russell and Danielle first met 22 years ago, the paper notes, on the set of the film The Crossing. After his romance with Proof of Life co-star Meg Ryan, he returned to Australia and married Danielle.
Russell and Danielle have yet to release any kind of statement confirming their separation/divorce plans, and Russell hasn’t tweeted on the report.
