Throughout the past few years, A. Skars has been taking the big screen by storm. He scared us as a Southern man who was far from a gentleman in Straw Dogs, impressed us with his (literal) big guns in Battleship, and haunted us in Melancholia.
This year, he’ll be inspiring those emotions, plus many more, with his new films. While most of them just premiered at festivals and won’t be in theaters until late 2012 or early 2013, we thought we’d round them up anyway.

What Maisie Knew features Alexander as Lincoln, a loving stepfather to pint-sized Onanta Aprile (aka Maisie). Our favorite vamp transformed into an adorable parent, swinging his tiny co-star around and melting our hearts in interviews when he talked about how much he loves her! This dramatic film won’t be all fun and games, though — little Maisie is torn between her parents during a bitter divorce, which means a whole box of tissues for us!
We’ll also be crying during Disconnect, in which Alex plays Derek, a married man! Details on the film are still under wraps, but according to the official synopsis, the drama “interweaves multiple storylines about people searching for human connection in today’s wired world.” It will debut in April 2013, co-starring Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, and potential on-screen wife, Paula Patton!
His final two films (for now) have him looking unrecognizable! In The East, he plays the leader of an anarchist activism organization who woos a woman (Another Earth’s Brit Marling) after she tries to infiltrate the group. The thriller has some romance, but it won’t be anything like amnesiac Eric Northman! This film is also how he met his pal Ellen Page, who shockingly recently received death threats for “dating” Alex!
