Are Kathy and Ethan Done For Good? Secret Life Star Cierra Ramirez Weighs In! – Exclusive
When we last left Kathy and Ethan on The Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Season 5 summer finale, they were on an emotional rollercoaster. After breaking up, Ethan may have gleefully whisked Kathy around the hospital in a wheelchair, but their issues still weren’t resolved.
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Kathy’s portrayer, Cierra Ramirez, to get the scoop on the Christmas festivities and what’s next for her and Ethan come spring.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Kathy made some big decisions in regards to Ethan in the mid-season finale. Do you think it is over for the two of them as a couple?
Cierra Ramirez: I'm going to leave that up to the fans to watch. What I love about this show is that I get the script, and I never know what's coming up next. So you can definitely look forward to a lot of drama, lots of twists and turns that you can never expect before.
There were certainly hints that she wasn't going to give him up that easily, even though she made that big speech about saying goodbye and finding someone else. So we shouldn't give up hope?
Don't give up hope. You should never give up hope.
Is the upcoming Christmas episode a stand-alone story, or will it answer questions from where we left off?
It will definitely answer some questions.
It's Christmas. It has to be. It's definitely a very good episode to watch. It's probably my favorite that I've filmed so far.
I had so much fun. It was the first time I got to work with the entire cast. So that was really fun, and, like I said, the drama, I can't get enough of it. It was just really good.
Do you think Kathy is ready for the birth of the baby?
I think she is. I think it's Ethan we have to worry about.
Are there issues to still resolve?
I think there are, and I think overall it kind of goes back to Ethan because he does want the best for her. He has the best intentions, but she's very, very smart. And she knows that she has to give this baby up for adoption for a better life. So it's going to be really fun to see how that all kind of plays out.
