Grey’s Anatomy Spoiler: Things Will Get “Ugly, Professionally” for Owen

As Grey's Anatomy fans can remember, the only thing more stressful than watching their favorite surgeons slowly deteriorate in the woods in the Season 8 finale was watching Owen (Kevin McKidd) ignore all of the phone calls about the crash.

And we aren’t the only ones who remember that …

TV Guide recently spoke to Kevin about Owen’s guilt for ignoring the phone calls and how that will affect him this season. “I think obviously he feels responsible. It was under his watch that this thing happened, even though it's not his fault. He can't help but feel this survivor's guilt. That will play out in an interesting way. It might be something that could come back to haunt him. He's going to be under a lot of pressure in the coming episodes and that's going to get ugly professionally for him,” Kevin said.

There are three things that catch our eye about what Kevin said: Things playing out in an interesting way, Owen’s guilt haunting him, and the upcoming pressure making things ugly for Owen … professionally.

We’re not sure how to define things playing out in an interesting way, but we’re willing to bet the options range from a special patient giving Owen a meaningful speech to icicles, air vents and things not even remotely related to the hospital.

And we already know that things aren’t exactly pretty for Owen personally, but what could happen at the hospital to make things “ugly” for the Chief?

Could all of this pressure, guilt and ugliness have something to do with the part of the plane crash that’s going to come up in the future? And how ugly do you think it’s going to get? Will Owen simply feel guilty and have it affect his work? Will he struggle with his co-worker relationships? Or is it something bigger such as losing his job?

At this point, it’s just speculation … but all of it sounds pretty ugly to us.
