Miley Cyrus Knows Nick Jonas’s “Wedding Bells” Is About Her Engagement to Liam Hemsworth
UPDATE: In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Nick Jonas confirmed that the song is, in fact, about his relationship with Miley.
Back in 2008, Miley Cyrus told Seventeen magazine she and Nick Jonas became boyfriend and girlfriend on the day they met. “For two years he was basically my 24/7," she said. After they broke up, she got serious with her co-star from The Last Song, Liam Hemsworth — and this past summer they got engaged.
The Jonas Brothers have a new song out called “Wedding Bells,” and in this video you can hear Nick introducing the song at a concert (of screaming fans). "Some things happened in this past year that affected me in a certain way in a moment, that I had go write something about it in that moment,” Nick said before playing the song. “And although it's not the way that I feel at this moment in time, hopefully this gives you a glimpse into what that experience was like for me."
“I don’t know who else is getting married…so I feel like that’s pretty blatant, it’s whatever,” Miley said. “Like I said, everyone has to write songs that are about things that they felt and he even introduced that this isn’t the way that I am. So, you can’t ever hate on someone for writing about something you’ve been through. I think that you kind of get a fair warning when you date an artist and someone that’s a writer."
Yeah, like everyone who dates Taylor Swift (including Nick’s brother, Joe Jonas)! On October 29, Nick confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that the song is about Miley, saying (via E! Online), "When you're with someone who's an artist […] it's just about being open and honest about the fact that your life is what you have to write about sometimes, and pull from your life inspiration."
Do you think it's fair game for celebs to write songs about each other like this? It's kind of like they're using each other for free promotion.
