Why Was The Situation in Rehab? You Asked, We Answered

On March 20, reports surfaced that Jersey Shore’s leading man, The Situation, had entered rehab. Nearly seven months later, many Jersey Shore fans still don’t know exactly what he went to rehab for, or what prompted him to get professional help at Cirque Lodge in Utah.

On the first night of Mike’s inpatient treatment program, The Situation kept his reasons for going secret. But the next day, he gave an official statement to TMZ in which he admitted to a “prescription medication problem” that he was suffering from “due to exhaustion.” The statement continued, "I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."

Later that summer, after The Situation reportedly got through filming Jersey Shore Season 6 while sober, he admitted that he used to take 15 oxycodone pills a day. Typically, oxycodone is taken twice a day at the most, and only by patients who are in physical pain.

This was actually Mike’s second stint in rehab; he first went to a different rehab facility when he was 27, for an unidentified drug problem.

Jersey Shore airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
