Vampire Steve Newlin and his signature over-the-shoulder sweater was back and better than ever in True Blood Season 5, and although we have a long six-month hiatus ahead of us, we can't stop thinking about him! While we think he'll be back next season, after he scurried off in the finale, we can't be sure!
While we're all waiting on pins and needles, check out five things you need to know about Michael McMillian — the man behind the "gay vampire American" man's fangs!
1. He Writes The True Blood Comic Book Series
Most die-hard Truebies read the True Blood comic book series, which takes plotlines from the show and further develops them. Turns out Michael is the writer behind the these bad boys, and now we love him even more!
2. He's an Acting Pro
Michael got his bachelor's and post-graduate degree from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, and then received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon's School of Drama. No wonder he's such a talented actor — he's had years of training!
3. He Dated Cat Deeley
Michael and So You Think You Can Dance (Dance, Dance, Dance) host, Cat Deeley, were first spotted together back in June 2011, but sadly they split up four months later.
4. He's Just Like Us ... aka a Huge Nerd
Michael is the reigning king of Hollywood's geek squad. He even told The Kansas City Star he was a "full-on nerd" who "got picked on a lot" in high school! Jeez, no wonder he fit in so well on True Blood —this is a show about vampires, faeries and supernatural beings, after all.
5. He Played Henry Gibson In What I Like About You
Michael played Amanda Bynes’ love interest in What I Like About You, and even wrote an episode called “Girls Gone Wild.” Sigh, from teenage dreamer to schizophrenic vampire. This stud has come so far!
