Wetpaint Entertainment: Were you happy to find out that you’re on Team A?
Keegan Allen: Me? Yeah!
You’ve been lying to us.
I know. It's fun to lie especially when you're on TV.
…As the most upstanding character on the show.
The moral compass, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's cool to play that. It's a privilege to play that, and when I found out about it, I was shocked and still very excited.
When did you find out?
I've known for quite some time now. Then I had to keep it a secret from everybody. And that was intense, but it was so fun to don the black hoodie and to be like this alter ego of this character.
So you and Mona, now that we know there's some sort of partnership there, are we going to see more of that in the Spring?
Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's rock and roll, baby.
And are we delving into a past that we haven't seen?
Yeah. We're going to see glimpses of the past. You explain the present a little better, which is what's so great about this show is that it really answers questions and unravels secrets that you wouldn't know otherwise. So, yeah, it's coming up.
I would assume when Spencer finds out that Toby is the bad guy . . .
…It's not a pretty sight.
How is that going to develop?
It's not going to be pretty. I mean, someone lying to you to that extent and for that amount of time – Oh, man, I'd be furious.
Or trying to hurt you and your friends physically, that's kind of a bummer.
Yeah. There's so much trust involved there, and for him to do that, it's just a no‑no. It's just a bad thing. We'll see how Spencer handles it. She's brilliant. She's like a Mensa smart person. So she's going to do something Mensa, very intelligent, or maybe not so intelligent, maybe working on emotions. You never know. You will see. It's going to be unbelievable.
Any hope for Spoby fans, the three of them that are still around?
Never say never and never lose hope in what you believe in. You'll see. It's pretty unbelievable.
I feel like you've been rooting for that relationship. What does that revelation mean to you? You're happy to be this crazy thing, but it also means the end of them, doesn't it?
It brings a whole new dynamic to that relationship now. And when she finds out about it, it brings it even further, deeper, just laceration to the relationship, but you'll see. I don't know how to explain it any better than that. It's going to change everything in Rosewood.
Were you shocked to find out who dies in the Halloween episode?
Oh, yeah. We were all shocked. We never like to see anybody leave our show. It's just intense.
Everyone has a target on their back in the show. Why would this one be particularly surprising?
Because you don't expect it. You know, when you say, “when you least expect it, it gets you the best,” right? This is one of those moments that you’re just going to be like “Oh, no. Whoa, I can't believe it!” It's great.
