UFC Fighter Bas Rutten Confesses His Love For Castle, Dishes on Jon Huertas’s Fighting Skills – Exclusive!

Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with UFC Heavyweight Champion and mixed martial artist Bas Rutten at the premiere of his new movie Here Comes the Boom on Oct. 9 in New York City.

Little did we know, the badass fighter has something of a soft spot for our ruggedly handsome mystery writer and his detective muse. And not only that, he's chummy with Castle's own Jon Huertas!

Check out what glowing things Bas had to say about ABC's hit crime procedural, and what he really thinks of Jon's skills in the ring!

Wetpaint Entertainment: What are you watching on TV these days?

Bas Rutten: I like scripted. I like Castle, you know. I love Castle, I love House. Dexter just started now and I love that. And of course, Breaking Bad. Shows like that I really enjoy. We watch American Idol. We were rooting every week, the whole time this movie was shooting, in Kevin's [James] room, all the guys were there watching American Idol because we’re all American Idol fans.

We actually cover Castle! Were you excited to see them get together?

Ohh, that was good! I actually know Jon Huertas, he’s a buddy of mine. We invited him on our show and we became friends. I think it’s really funny — UFC vs. WWE on YouTube. YouTube that. It’s a really funny clip; they did a really good job with that.

Editor's note: Bas is right — the clip is hilarious! Watch it here.

Is he a good fighter?

Oh yeah! He trained for a very long time and he used to box.

Are you caught up on Castle?

No, no, no. We didn’t watch last night yet. Don’t spoil it!
