As a young girl in New Zealand, she wasn’t planning on becoming an actress, but was picked out of a crowd of girls during an open call for 1993 movie, The Piano. After winning an Oscar for her supporting role — beating out her on-screen mom, Holly Hunter — she played Young Jane Eyre in Jane Eyre and fan favorite Amy in Fly Away Home, both in 1996.
Anna had a handful of memorable, sassy quotes as Mckenzie in She’s All That and Polexia in Almost Famous, but she didn’t have her true big break until 2000’s X-Men. The first supernatural creature that our favorite faerie played was Rogue, aka Marie, in all three films in the trilogy (X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand.)
Soon after, she started filming True Blood and has not done as many movies since, but she reunited with Fly Away Home co-star in 2005’s The Squid and the Whale, starred in her brother’s movies (Blue State in 2007 and Open House with husband Stephen Moyer in 2010), joined an all-star cast (including Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Adam Brody, and Malin Akerman) in The Romantics, and starred in Margaret last year — just to name a few.
