Nashville’s Top 5 Music Moments From Season 1, Episode 3: “Someday You’ll Call My Name”
Nashvillepacks so many amazing song performances into each episode that it’s hard to keep track of them all. And while we love each and every one, life is all about choices, so here are our top 5 music moments from Season 1, Episode 3: “Someday You’ll Call My Name.” (Psst! You canbuy them all here!) 5. Juliette and Deacon record “Undermine.” Do we love seeing Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) and Deacon (Charles Esten) together? Uh, no comment. (Team Dayna all the way!) Still, they did a heck of a job on “Undermine,” and we love getting more of a glimpse into what makes Juliette tick. In fact, it was quite revealing to learn that the last verse was about Juliette’s mom, with Juliette singing how she “thought you would see me through.” All in all, there’s no disagreeing with Juliette’s producer that the song is “killer.”
4. Daphne Jaymes sings George Jones’ “She’s Just a Girl I Used to Know” — into a shoe. What, you don’t sing into a sequined shoe from time to time? We couldn’t help but crack up during this adorable scene, with Daphne jumping up on the bed to sing along with the radio into Rayna’s (Connie Britton) fancy footwear. And speaking of that shoe, we’re thinking that this show’s sequin budget must be off the charts.
3. Gunnar and Scarlett write “I Will Fall” — until Avery pops in. Each song that Gunnar (Sam Palladio) and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) work on together just continues to impress. And while we might not love this one quite as much as, say, their first song together, “If I Didn’t Know Better,” it’s still pretty stellar, and their chemistry is undeniable. We can see why Avery (Jonathan Jackson) was getting a little jealous and felt the need to loudly drop his keys on the table.
2. Daphne and Maddie Jaymes perform Juliette’s “Telescope” at the talent show. Talk about some musical genes! Daphne and Maddie — sideboob-free, thankfully — blow us away with their incredible duet at the talent show, complete with Daphne’s adorable foot-stomping and hand-clapping. (Yee haw!) And Maddie’s stunning voice really has us wondering who her dad might be (*cough* Deacon). Long story short, Juliette better watch her back.
1. Scarlett and Gunnar record “Fade Into You” as Watty and Avery watch. Now this is the kind of Garlett performance we’ve come to expect! Scarlett shakes off the jitters as she and Gunnar finally rock our world with this powerful duet. Sure, we had mixed emotions about this performance — given that we could see in Gunnar’s eyes how much he cares for Scarlett, while we know that Avery is just using her to get to Watty — but it’s still amazing. And here’s hoping that this one nice guy just might finish first.
