Once Upon a Time Dr. Whale Spoiler Roundup: Everything You Need to Know

It’s finally happening! Dr. Whale’s (David Anders) identity will be revealed in Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 5: “The Doctor” (airing October 28). But that’s not the only thing we know about him after watching his every move for over 20 episodes.

Here’s a roundup of all the spoilers we have on Storybrooke’s good (or bad?) doctor, heading into the big reveal on Sunday.

Dr. Whale’s identity reveals the truth about Fairytale Land. As Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) points out in this interview, “Part of revealing him is going to also reveal how vast the worlds are.” She points to the scene from Season 1 where we see the entrance to Wonderland, and all of those doors in The Mad Hatter’s (Sebastian Stan) portal. “Those are doors to all different worlds,” Jennifer says. “Certain characters are going to start to open up different worlds to the show."

The doc gets beat up a lot. That whole one-night stand thing with Mary Margaret/Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin)? Yeah, David Nolan/Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) isn’t just going to let that one slide, exactly.

Did we say “a lot”? Good, because not only does Whale get punched out, but Daniel (Noah Bean) (or the monster version of Daniel) will rip Whale’s entire left arm off, leaving the bloody stump on a gurney, and Whale on the floor.

In a flashback... Dr. Whale is seen experimenting with a human heart, Daniel’s lifeless body, and a lightning storm. Anyone else thinking about Dr. Frankenstein?

Good! Because here is our detailed and extensive theory on why Dr. Whale could be the demented doctor.

Dr. Whale and Mr. Gold. What is their connection? Based on this photo, it looks like Whale is bringing the remains of his bloody arm to Mr. Gold’s (Robert Carlyle) shop. Probably for some of that dark magic.

Whale and his women. Dr. Whale is still obsessed with girls, whether he remembers his Fairytale Land identity or not.

Whale’s history with Regina. We know it goes way back, and hopefully we’ll get the full story this weekend.

Charming doesn’t know him. Adding weight to that whole “vast worlds” teaser, Dr. Whale told Charming in the season premiere (Season 2, Episode 1: “Broken”) that he’s not Whale’s prince. David didn’t even recognize him.
