Pretty Little Liars Winter Premiere Spoiler: Marlene King Says [SPOILER] Will “Crack”

In the Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Halloween episode (Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride”), many fans noticed that Lucas Gottesman (Brendan Robinson) was acting very strangely. Not only was he using one of those old-fashioned cameras, like the one Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding) gave Aria (Lucy Hale), but he disappeared with Jason (Drew Van Acker) for a secret meeting.

Showrunner Marlene King hints at why Lucas looked so suspicious, and whether or not we’ll get more information on the Jason/Lucas relationship in a new interview.

In an interview with TVLine, Marlene is asked why Lucas no longer seems like one of the bad guys anymore. She replied, “That’s a really good question and you’re going to see that in the season opener [Season 3, Episode 14: “She’s Better Now,” airing January 8, 2013].”

She also lets it slip that “Lucas sort of cracks in 3b,” meaning the winter season.

This seems odd, since we were under the impression that Lucas has already cracked — more than once. First, he broke down after taking Hanna (Ashley Benson) on that scary boat ride in Season 2, Episode 16: “Let the Water Hold Me Down,” confessing to a gambling problem. Then, in Season 3, Episode 5: “That Girl is Poison,” Lucas acted like he was out of his mind when he found Aria(Lucy Hale) at the photography studio where he was working, begging her for his camera bag (which had Maya’s [Bianca Lawson] pills in it).

We’re starting to wonder if Lucas, Noel (Brant Daugherty), and Jenna (Tammin Sursok) are on a team entirely separate from the “A” team. They could be the ones who stole Alison’s body, and drugged Emily (Shay Mitchell). But that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re on the “A” team as well.

Marlene also remarked on the Lucas/Jason connection, saying, “You weren’t imagining things. I promise you’ll see more of that.”

More mysteries explained? We’ll be there on January 8!
