Jessica Simpson Reveals 60-Pound Post-Baby Weight Loss: Is There Too Much Pressure on Body Image for New Moms?

Jessica Simpson gained 70 pounds during her recent pregnancy, and six months after giving birth to her baby girl, Maxwell Drew, she’s already shed 60.

We’re excited for the gorgeous singer, but we’re also a little worried. It took her nine months to gain the baby weight, so is it safe and healthy to drop the pounds that fast?

More than that, we want to make sure Jessica is doing it for herself and not because Hollywood is pressuring her to get slim quickly. As a celebrity, she’s photographed constantly — frequently from unflattering angles to help sell more pictures — and she’s under the scrutiny of the media spotlight, just like our favorite Teen Moms.

We applaud her either way, but we hope she lost the weight for her own well-being, like Catelynn Lowell did recently when she shed 20 pounds and how Jenelle Evans slimmed down to get a beach-ready body!

On the other hand, we wouldn’t judge Jessica if she decided to slow down. Recently, Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry went on a fitness kick with the Insanity exercise regimen and lost 11 pounds, but later gained it all back. Instead of freaking out and doing something unhealthy, she decided she put too much emphasis on being perfect and is now embracing her body. Honestly, we’re even more proud of her now!
