The Shortest Relationships on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette
Barbra Streisand is full of it. Love is not soft as an easy chair. It's hard. What's easy is to get cynical about The Bachelor franchise's track record for "success" when it comes to creating lasting couples.
With all the recent breakups in the Bachelor Nation (Emily Maynardand Jef Holm; Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson), we began to wonder - what are the shortest relationships in the history of The Bachelor and Bachelorette? is own fine self are still going strong.
5. The Bachelor Season 4: Bob Guiney and Estella Gardinier
Relationship length: Two and a half weeks after finale aired.
Bob didn't propose to Estella in the November 2003 finale, but he did give her a promise ring. Apparently it was a promise to break up with her by phone after they attended Trista and Ryan Sutter's December 2003 wedding.
4. The Bachelor Season 8: Travis Stork and Sarah Stone
Relationship length: One week after finale aired.
Travis did not propose to Sarah; they decided to "take a chance" at a relationship. However, in early March 2006 — just one week after the finale aired, Travis and Sarah told reporters they had already broken up
3 and 2. (TIE) The Bachelorette Season 3: Jen Schefft and Jerry Ferris; The Bachelor Season 13: Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft
Relationship length: Right after the finales aired, their break ups aired.
Jen actually did choose Jerry in the finale that aired on February 28, 2005. She just rejected his proposal, saying they should check in after the show airs to see how they felt about each other.
Jason proposed to Melissa in the season 13 finale. However, in the “After the Final Rose” special that aired right afterward, Jason dumped Melissa, saying his feelings had changed. The silver lining is that Jason and his original runner-up, Molly Mesnick (née Melaney), are still together with a baby on the way!
1. The Bachelor Season 11: Brad Womack and absolutely no one
Relationship length: Not even half a second!
Still the gold standard for short relationships. It would take a lot to top this one, but perhaps at some point a Bachelor or Bachelorette will quit mid-season. Until then, Brad’s decision to choose himself over DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft remains the champion. However, if seen from another viewpoint, Brad and his own fine self are still going strong.
