Once Upon a Time Season 2: Should Emma Trust Captain Hook?

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 5: “The Doctor.” Turn back now if you haven't seen it and wish to remain spoiler free.

The focus of Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 5: “The Doctor” was on Regina (Lana Parrilla), Daniel (Noah Bean), and Dr. Whale (David Anders), but there was still time for some interesting stuff with OUAT's hottest new baddie, Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue).

Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Mary Margaret/Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), Mulan (Jamie Chung), and Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger) find Hook is the only survivor of a huge massacre by Cora (Barbara Hershey) on their safe haven. He claims to be an innocent and lucky villager, but Emma isn't buying it.

They manage to get the truth out of him after threatening to let an ogre attack him. He admits he's working with Cora, but says he'll happily team up with them, instead. He explains that Cora needs an enchanted compass to get back to Storybrooke. Hook promises to help our heroes find it as long as they let him come to Storybrooke with them. He even explains that his goal is to avenge himself on Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle). He leads them to a giant beanstalk (of Jack and the Beanstalk fame, we assume).

The question is: Can they trust him? Emma assumes he's leading them to a trap, but decides that as long as they know it's a trap they can stay one step ahead of him. Do you agree with her, or do you think Hook really is willing to help them as long as it helps his interests?
