Arrow Love Triangle Spoilers: Will Laurel Go For Oliver or Tommy? Katie Cassidy Says…
When we were first introduced to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and his ex-girlfriend Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) we thought it was only a matter of time before the two would reunite – in bed. But it turns out this epic romance has a real obstacle in its way, in the shape of Oliver’s best friend Tommy (Colin Donnell).
Warner Brothers took Wetpaint Entertainment to the Vancouver set of Arrow, where we cornered Katie Cassidy for scoop on the love triangle that’s rocking Season 1.
Wetpaint Entertainment: You’re currently working on the seventh episode. What can you say about what you’re shooting now?
Katie Cassidy: There’s definitely a lot of stuff with Laurel and Tommy, and you get to see a nice change in Laurel. I think she’s very different when she’s with Oliver than when she’s with Tommy.
How she’s different with Tommy and Oliver?
The three of them go back since they were children, and they’ve been very close. After Oliver was assumed dead, Laurel and Tommy leaned on each other. Obviously they got very romantically involved a few times, which to Laurel was just a lapse, as she says. But Tommy, I think, really cares for Laurel, and he’s willing to go to extremes to show her how he feels. With Tommy, I think she’s more fun; it’s lighter. But I do think that Oliver is the love of her life. I feel like with Oliver it’s a lot more intense; there’s a lot more passion and fire. A lot of emotions come up when she’s with Oliver. When she’s with Tommy, you just get to see more of a sexy and fun, wild side to Laurel.
Does Tommy stand a chance?
You know, it’s a good question! I think she’s sort of weighing the pros and cons. I’m not exactly sure what’s going to happen, but they certainly have a good time together, and it’s certainly an interesting dynamic because Oliver and Tommy are best friends. It’s a love triangle. So we’ll see!
What did Laurel see in Oliver back when he was a douchebag?
They are good people deep down, and I think they grew up together, and they were friends first in grade school. As kids, I think, it was just an innocent friendship that developed into something far more passionate, and it developed into a strong relationship. They share a lot together, and again, I think deep down she knows he has a big heart. At this moment in time, I don’t think she necessarily is able to see who she once saw, but she knows he’s there. That’s why she’s still trying.
What does Laurel think of the Arrow?
It’s a fun, really interesting dynamic. She’s curious, you know? Everything she believes in, the Arrow contradicts. But at the same time, he’s trying to do the same thing she is, just in a different way. So I think she sees the parallel. She starts questioning herself and her own morals and values. She’s sort of reevaluating.
Do you hope Laurel finds out soon about who the Arrow is?
No! I hope Laurel falls in love with the Arrow and then later finds out. I just think it would be fun.
