Jersey Shore Cast Releases Statements About Sandy Destruction: “It’s Devastating”

The devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy across the entire eastern seaboard this week has been horrific, and the Jersey Shore cast – though safe – has been witnessing the vast damage up close and on personal levels like so many others. Their “second home” Seaside Heights, New Jersey took a particularly hard hit and is now hardly recognizable following the impact of the storm.

For the gang, this is a grave sadness. They each issued heavy and somber statements to MTV about the destruction at Seaside.

Snooki: “Sandy destroyed Seaside – our second home. It’s devastating to see our boardwalk and favorite spots ruined. My prayers go out to everyone affected by the storm.”

Pauly D: “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by Hurricane Sandy, especially our friends and family in Seaside Heights. A huge thank you to all the men and women who have been working around the clock to protect and help everyone, true heroes!”

Vinny: “Over the last few years, it feels like Seaside Heights has become my second home. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by this disaster in Seaside and across the Northeast. I’m here to support in any way I can.”

JWOWW: “This is a devastating time for the East Coast and my prayers are with everyone. I am thinking about my second family at the Jersey Shore and know that we can rebuild and come back stronger.”

Sammi Sweetheart: “The impact Hurricane Sandy had on the Jersey Shore is beyond devastating. So many families and homes were destroyed and my heart and prayers go out to everyone affected by this storm.”

Each of these castmembers has also publicly tweeted support for the American Red Cross’ text message fundraising campaign.

“U can contribute to the American Red Cross' relief efforts @ the Jersey Shore and elsewhere.text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation,” Snooks tweeted.

Meanwhile, JWOWW made a public vow to do some hands-on work to rebuild the area. On Twitter, she promised, “Anything to help the people affected by this storm including my own hometown etc. I will be helping the jersey shore get back together altogether. This is my home.”

Her future husband Roger Mathews, for one, is already making good on that pledge. Not only did he and a “buddy” hop on jet skis to help those stranded by the storms, but he also made efforts to refuel a hospital this morning so it wouldn’t power out.

Jersey Shore airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
