Demi Moore Uses Blood-Sucking Leeches For Beauty: How Far Would You Go to Look Good?

While getting ready in the morning, you use the basics: foundation, mascara, lipstick, and eyeliner. But would you consider adding blood-sucking leeches to your vanity table?

For Demi Moore, “leech therapy” is just part of her beauty routine. Although she doesn’t do it herself at home, when cleansing, she turns to “highly trained” blood suckers to help detoxify.

The actress first talked about this unique treatment while on The Late Show With David Letterman back in 2008, explaining that she was on a cleanse in Austria and they offered her leeches as part of her treatment.

But this doesn’t involved everyday swamp leeches — Demi claims, “These are highly trained medical leeches. These are not just some low-level scavengers; we’re talking high-level blood-suckers.”

And these little “blood-suckers” not only bite down on you, but you bleed out for quite a bit to “optimize” your health.

“They have a little enzyme that when they’re biting down on you, gets released into your blood and generally you bleed for quite a bit,” she explained. “And your health is optimized. It detoxifies the blood.”

Eek! Bleeding out in the name of beauty? That sounds far more painful than vampire love on our favorite television shows and movies. But we have to admit that Demi looks amazing for a 49-year-old mother of three! But is looking good really worth the pain?

Being confident in the way you look is tough, especially for young moms. Bouncing back post-baby isn’t easy, but how far would you take it to look good?

Recently, Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham went under the knife for $16,000 worth of plastic surgery, drastically altering her nose and chin. Many other of her fellow teen moms have had breast implants (including Farrah), gone on crazy diets, or quickly lost a lot of weight, and we wonder if it is worth the risk.

Would you let leeches suck your blood if it made you look and feel better? Or do you think therapy like this and drastic surgery take beauty standards too far? Weigh in below.
