Patrick Dempsey Lands New Movie Role Playing Amanda Seyfried’s Love Interest

Grey's Anatomy’s McDreamy is hitting the big screen!

The Chicago Tribune reports that Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) has been cast alongside Amanda Seyfried in a new romantic comedy. The movie, Wonderful Tonight, is about what happens when a fairly rich bachelor and a carefree woman have a one-night stand that results in a pregnancy.

We know that Patrick has experience with the one-night-stand-turned-into-something-more plot, but this time, he won’t be the dreamy guy that the girl can’t stay away from. Actually, he’s the exact opposite.

Based on his past decisions, Patrick’s character is turned down and has to prove that he can be a father while winning over the heart of Amanda’s character.

If he looks at her the same way he looks at Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) on the small screen, we can’t imagine that she (or any woman) would be able to turn him down.

Written by J. Mills Goodloe and directed by Christine Jeffs (Sunshine Cleaning), we’re going to go ahead and mark our calendars for this one. Well, as soon as we know a release date, we will do just that.

Catch the next new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, November 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
