Olympic Gold Medalist Carly Patterson Ties the Knot!
Everyone who watched the 2004 Olympics knows her name. Carly Patterson brought home gold for the US in the gymnastics all-around competition just eight years ago. And now she has removed the bling from around her neck … and added some to her left ring finger instead.
Saturday evening, Carly said “I do” with Mark Caldwell in Dallas, Texas according to People. Carly walked down the aisle in front of 250 people in a Vera Wang dress and Jimmy Choo heels.
“My dress was the very first one I tried on. I knew it was the one immediately,” Carly said.
The couple, who got engaged in January, then headed over to The Main Room for their reception, which featured live music, southern treats (think chicken and waffles and a prime rib carving station). The venue was decked out in gold, silver and pearl with hints of green as the guests danced to the music of The Good Question.
“Mark and I chose a Southern theme for the koozies [we are providing] because of my Louisiana upbringing. We did black and gold for the Saints inscribed with 'Les Bon Temps Rouler,'” Carly said. That expression translates to “let the good times roll.” Other koozies read, “A love brewed down South.”
For Carly, this day had been a long time coming. “This might sound cliché, but after two weeks of dating Mark I knew he was a completely different from any other guy I've ever met. Mark is handsome, loving and he makes me laugh. He is a great support system and motivator in my life. I feel so lucky and fortunate that I get to spend forever with my best friend and the love of my life,” Carly said.
So she found her dream man, and now she has had her dream day. “Mark and I had the most incredible night of our lives celebrating with all of our close friends and family. We are so excited to start this journey together and so blessed to have found each other,” she said.
Congrats, Carly! We like to think there were celebratory backflips at the wedding, but we’ve heard nothing of the sort … yet.
