Apolo Ohno: It Felt Good to Go Shirtless on DWTS All-Stars

Karina Smirnoff has been trying to get Apolo Anton Ohno to dance shirtless since Dancing With the Stars All-Stars Week 1.

"She said you don't need a shirt, you can just dance in pants the whole season," he told Zap2it. "He does resist me a lot when I ask him to take off clothing," she said.

Apolo argued that "confidence comes from within" and it had to be the right moment to go shirtless. They found the right moment with their Paso Doble/Cha-Cha-Cha fusion dance on Season 15, Week 7: Performance Show. "I went shirtless — it felt good," he told Zap2it. "It was in tune with the dance. I loved it. The paso was super-strong; the cha-cha was fun and fast ... I loved it."

A lot of guys have been shirtless this season — and even though Karina has been pushing for it, she appreciates Apolo’s reserve. "To be honest, as a woman, for me, the fact that he doesn't feel as comfortable [walking] around with no shirt every single week, walking around shirtless, that's a good thing,” Karina told On the Red Carpet. “That's a man who's confident but not necessarily needs to rub it in our face."

No offense to Val Chmerkovskiy, who was walking around shirtless on the same press line!

Catch a new episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars on Monday, November 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
