American Horror Story: Asylum: Who Is Bloody Face?
Between the exorcisms and creepy Dr. Arden’s “date” last week on American Horror Story: Asylum, we almost forgot about Bloody Face, the serial killer at large who flays women and appears to be wearing their skins on his face. (If you’re eating while reading this, we’re sorry, but you should have known better from the title!) However, all the copycats at the beginning of this week’s episode renewed our interest in the killer. Who is Bloody Face?
Well, the only thing we really know at this point is who he’s not. Since Bloody Face is still on the loose, there’s no way Kit (Evan Peters) is the culprit, even if he’s doing the Bloody Face time for the Bloody Face crime. What happened with Kit and his deceased wife seems like it could be related to aliens, especially considering the arachnid-like microchip Dr. Arden (James Cromwell) found embedded under Kit’s skin.
Speaking of the misogynistic and sadistic Dr. Arden, he’s definitely the most obvious suspect, at least based on initial impressions. Like, maybe a little too obvious. Other than the fact that it would be so on the nose to find out he’s the serial killer on the loose, Dr. Arden seems much more inclined to order in to sate his torturing needs than to go out shopping for them, if you know what we mean.
But that certainly doesn’t rule out one of his mysterious creatures lurking around the grounds of Briarcliff and scaring the bejeezus out of Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) and her escaped wards. However, from what little we’ve seen so far, they can’t even seem to feed themselves let alone fashion their very own skin masks.
There’s certainly an outside chance that psychiatrist Dr. Thredson (Zachary Quinto) is Bloody Face. When Shelley (Sarah Paulson) sent him looking for her (likely deceased) girlfriend, he was pretty quick to conclude it was Bloody Face. Plus, he seems just enough on the side of good to pull the old bait-and-switch.
And, then there are those aliens Kit might have encountered. Is it possible that our serial killer is really an alien trying to make a skin suit so that he can walk among the humans? Or is it some character as yet unseen (at least without the macabre mask)? Share your theories with us!
