Injured Derek Hough Will Finish DWTS All-Stars With Shawn Johnson

Even with Derek Hough's neck injury and Shawn Johnson's knee injury, Team Shawnough is still expected by many to make the finals of Dancing With the Stars All-Stars.

Derek told Us Weekly he’s still dealing with discomfort from a recently inflamed bulging disc in his vertebrae, and he’s going to have to have surgery eventually. “The bone is just rubbing on the nerve,” the pro dancer said. “But you know, I'm not going to do any more damage to it and I'm going to keep going and keep going strong."

That's right: He’s good to continue on DWTS. As Shawn told Today, Derek has returned to rehearsals, and they are back practicing with her Season 8 partner Mark Ballas for the Season 15 Week 8 Trio Dances. "We just have to make sure he doesn’t push it too much," Shawn said. "But it’s more important to have him for the end."

The end isn't too far off. Next Tuesday, on the Week 8: Results Show, two couples will leave and the current seven will immediately be cut to five.

Today asked how Shawn would feel if we saw a repeat of the Season 8 finale between herself (the winner), runner-up Gilles Marini and third placer Melissa Rycroft? “Each week it’s getting a little closer to being that,” Shawn said. “If it plays out that way, Season 8 will make you proud!”

Do you think that’s how the end will play out? Who do you see as the final three couples?

Catch a new episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars on Monday, November 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
