Vampire Diaries’ Filming Location in Jeopardy? Covington, GA, Not Entirely Happy With Show Shooting There
Does The Vampire Diaries need to find a new home? The CW show has been filming in Covington, GA, outside of Atlanta, for its four seasons, but not everyone loves living next to where bloodsuckers and witches work.
According to Covington News, the Covington City Council members will create a committee to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of having the show film in their town. Mayor Ronnie Johnston would like the committee to include residents, shop owners, and members of Bonanza Productions, which films TVD.
Mayor Johnston asked the council to establish guidelines for filming crews in the city. Apparently, all those late-night shoots are getting to people.
Nancy Whirley owns rental properties near a popular filming locale and has received complaints. "When there is filming, it's not just the hours of how long they film at night, it's how early they start in the morning and how many people hang out all night in the streets with all the equipment," said Whirley.
While business owner Andrea Smith appreciated the increase in customers, she agreed issues such as parking should be addressed. “I would really ask that this is not an all or nothing kind of thing. There are some things that can be adjusted, don't consider banning the filming because it is a huge impact financially," Smith said.
Let’s hope the production company and the city can resolve these issues! Where would The Vampire Diaries be without Mystic Falls?
