Adam Levine Talks The Voice Season 2: I Didn’t Think Jermaine Paul Would Win

Though Season 2 of The Voice only ended in May, it seems like that was decades ago now that we’re in the middle of Season 3.

Season 2 was a simpler time, before steals and knockout rounds, and when one contestant from each team was guaranteed a spot in the Final 4.

In case you need a refresher, Team Blake’s Jermaine Paul took home the top prize with Team Cee Lo’s Juliet Simms coming in second, Team Adam’s Tony Lucca coming in third, and Team Christina’s Chris Mann coming in fourth.

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with celebrity coach Adam Levine at a press conference in New York City last month, he admitted that last season’s winner surprised him.

“I wasn’t sure that I was going to win last season, but I certainly wasn’t sure that it was going to be Jermaine that won,” Adam said. “I thought it was going to be Juliet Simms, who wasn’t on my team. So not only was I wrong, I was double wrong.”

Adam wouldn’t predict a potential winner for this season, because according to him doing so would be counterintuitive.

“It’s impossible to predict what people are going to want in a given moment,” he said. “I think I have the best team, but that’s because it’s my team. I’m supposed to think that because otherwise, how do you win?”
