Adrienne Maloof and Paul Nassif’s Separation: Why No One Saw It Coming: UPDATE
We are still experiencing shock, awe, and deep questions about whether true love really exists. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof, who separated from her husband, Dr. Paul Nassif, has officially reached a divorce settlement. He tweeted the news this morning, saying "I want you to hear this from me. Adrienne and I have settled."
Although theirs always seemed like a solid, fun-filled marriage, things were not so rosy behind the scenes. The plastic surgeon kept up a good front on Twitter, and as recent as this July, the two seemed like their usual power-couple selves in public.
Despite the fact that a source told Radar Online the separation has been “a long time coming” and he hasn’t been living at the mansion for a week, Paul has still been spending time with the family. “Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday! Happy to be back home with Adrienne and the boys,” hetweeted back in July 21. That same night, he was photographed kissing his wife on the cheek atKyle Richards’s boutique opening.
Just earlier in July, Paul and Adrienne co-hosted a Zing Vodka party at their home, and both tweeted pictures of events. “Going to be a great night as we celebrate @AdrienneMaloof & the launch of @ZINGVodka tonight,” Paultold his Twitter followers on July 25.
If this was all an attempt to cover up their marital troubles, viewers may see what was really going on when Season 3 finally airs. (RHoBH willfinish filming its final scene today, according to an exclusive report from Wetpaint Entertainment.) But the serious turn their marriage took today is a far cry from the couple fans have watched for the past two seasons on Bravo.
“Paul and I bicker, but when we bicker, it’s more in a fun, loving — eh, I don’t want to say that. It’s not,” the Housewifesaid in Season 1. To viewers, it did look the couple was constantly arguing — but it appeared they actually enjoyed the little sparring matches (whether they were bickering overlunch or politics). Nevertheless, there were signs of strain. Even the super-rich Nassifs weren’t immune tofinancial troubles, and Adrienne has seen two friendships, with Brandi Glanville andLisa Vanderpump, take serious hits.
“We have a good marriage but it’s a work in progress. That’s any marriage I think but especially with the show it gets a little more difficult,” Adriennetold Wetpaint Entertainment back in 2011.
In their statements on the separation, both Paul and Adrienne said they wanted to focus on what’s best for their three sons. At least that’s something they can agree on.
