Dancing With The Stars

Cheryl Burke Confirms She’s Met With Bachelorette Producers, Among Others

Well, if Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke can keep the buzz going about possibly being on The Bachelorette, maybe she will actually get the gig.

The Bachelor Season 17 doesn’t even start until January, and the past eight Bachelorettes have all come from The Bachelor — whether they were contestants on the season that just aired ahead of it or one previous to that. So the odds are not in Cheryl's favor, unless The Powers That Be decide to treat the ladies the way they used to treat their old-school Bachelors, who were semi-famous and did not have to do a stint on The Bachelorette before becoming the Bachelor.

E! News recently quoted an unnamed show source who said Cheryl would never get the gig, claiming she was the one who kept pushing for it. Cheryl has been open with her interest in being the Season 9 Bachelorette, but she followed up on that rumor by telling E!, "I have met with the producers of The Bachelorette and I also have met with ABC producers and development executives, just to develop other shows."

She also mentioned meeting people at different companies and networks. She knows DWTS won't be on air forever and it sounds like she’s just putting out feelers. She confirmed that The Bachelorette happened to be one of the shows that was up for discussion, but she and everyone else involved must know it's way too soon to be confirming who will hand out roses next May.

Cheryl never comes right out and says she's skipping the spring season of DWTS, the way the previous E! News story claimed. Maybe she's in a holding pattern. If she does get the Bachelorette gig, she'll have to skip DWTS. But if she ends up going in a different direction, maybe she can continue next spring and just move on from DWTS after her contract is up. We'll see!

Catch a new episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars on Monday, November 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
