Kenyan Mother Names Twin Boys After Barack Obama and Mitt Romney

The election is over, but the arguing between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will likely go on for years to come — at least in one household in Kenya!

Millicent Owuor, a 20-year-old south-west Kenya resident, gave birth to healthy twin boys on November 6, 2012, otherwise known as America’s Election Day. It seems Millicent was feeling the political power and wanted to commemorate the occasion: According to Reuters, she named one child after each of the 2012 Presidential Election candidates. Baby Barack was born first, with little Mitt nipping at his heels — isn't that ironic?

Kenya’s Standard Newspaper says the delivery took place just a short distance from President Obama’s father’s birthplace. It seems little Barack may need a nickname to stand out from the crowd, because Reuters reports that several other Kenyan mothers named their children born on Election Day after Obama.

Let’s hope these twin boys get along better than their namesakes!
